Asthma care and research are prominent activities of the division. More than 3,000 children and adolescents with asthma are seen annually by our physicians, nurse practitioners, and staff. Children hospitalized with asthma are admitted to St. Louis Children’s Hospital receive care by division physicians or advanced practice nurses who collaborate in our evidence-based asthma intervention model (AIM).

Dedicated to the treatment of patients with cystic fibrosis (CF) for almost a half century, the comprehensive, fully accredited Cystic Fibrosis Center at Washington University Medical Center and affiliated clinics are premier clinical and research programs. Its commitment to excellence in patient care, teaching, and research is regularly recognized by our division’s inclusion as one of America’s best pediatric pulmonary services.

Our center is dedicated to the diagnosis, treatment and ongoing research of rare pediatric lung diseases. As an institution with a long history of ground-breaking research and care of neonatal and childhood lung disease, the Rare Lung Disease Center is uniquely positioned to offer services that go beyond those of other centers and subspecialists.

Serves children who have or are suspected of having sleep-related breathing disorders, need for mechanical support of breathing during sleep, narcolepsy, restless leg syndrome, periodic limb movements, insomnia, excessive daytime somnolence, nighttime seizures, and many other problems associated with or worsened during sleep.
